Selecting Your Wedding Vendors

Are you working on selecting your wedding vendors?  This of course can be the most time consuming process for most brides.  However, consider first hiring a wedding planner even if you only want a wedding planner for the weekend of the wedding.  Go ahead and book the planner now.  Many planners will provide you with names of qualified, reputable vendors that meet your style and budget without you having to look all over town and attending every bridal show in town. Their vendors will not have been selected from the yellow pages but vendors that they have worked with they can be counted on.

Many brides are concerned about wedding planners who are accepting fees or kickbacks to give you a specific vendors name. A professionally trained wedding planner knows that is is totally unethical to take kickbacks and should be refusing to do so.  Their total focus should be on you and the best vendors that work for your special day.

Sometimes a bride runs across another wedding vendor such as a caterer or a dj who says they also do wedding planning. And you might be thinking, why don’t I just use this person instead of spending the time looking for another wedding planner.  The best advice that I can give you is don’t. The florist, the dj, or the caterer’s full time job is to provide their service or product that is their speciality and they have training in. Trust me, your florist is busy doing the last minute touches on flowers, delivering them to your church and your reception venue and then setting up at both of those locations.  While the florist is busy doing those details, many, many other details and responsibilities need to be taken care of and the florist will not have a free hand to do those items.  You want a wedding planner whose total focus and energy is on you and the big picture of the entire process and set up for that day so your day is flawless.

Brides, what if your mom or your best friend is saying that she will plan your wedding.  Your mom may want to be a part of every little detail and be excited for you during the special time so she wants to do the “whole thing”.  The best friend might be telling you that she helped plan several other friends weddings and so she can do the same for you.  No risk your friendship with your best friend – the planning process can be stressful and when the wedding is over you still want your friend to be your best friend.  Get her to help you with one or two special things like selection of the bridesmaid’s dresses and accessories or even going with you to look for wedding dresses.

A professionally trained wedding planner will guide you and provide ideas throughout the complete wedding planning process.  They can help you work through any difficult decisions as well. Your goal as a bride is to enjoy the planning time.  Hire a wedding planner today so no one in your family, your bridal party or you get too stressed out that they are not able to enjoy one of the best times of your life.
