The newest item seen in the Paris Wedding show was a black wedding dress. Can you believe it?
From well-known couturiers like Max Chaoul to more moderately priced dress labels like Creations Bochet, when it comes to choosing a wedding dress in France, black seems to be the new white. Cymbeline Paris has gone so far as to have 4 different black dresses in their 2008 collection!

This dress I wouldn’t, but the other day I was flicking through a wedding magazine and saw the most amazing black wedding dress and fell in love with it!
Personally, I wouldn’t (and didn’t…almost went with a pale pink, though). IMO to each her own. But I TOTALLY wouldn’t choose a wedding dress only because it’s current fashion…wouldn’t be able to stand the thought of looking at myself for years in a gown I didn’t truly adore!
These dresses are similar to a cloth. Such I would not buy. Black dresses should be bright shining with srtasses or silver furnish. My black wedding dress shining and very beautiful.
I would wear a black wedding dress; in fact, I’ve been planning to! Not because its the lastest fashion trend but because I absolutely love the color black.

Definitely! My boyfriend says I look really pale in white with my fair skin. He says I look smashing in black. So, why not look smashing on my wedding day? Besides, my children are 18 and 21 … I’m no longer concerned with the purity ideals behind the white dress nor do I want to limit my imagination.
Yes, absolutly! I am trying to find a black and white wedding dress, with a majority of black , even entirly black like these, and I am feeling hopeless… I just might have to have it custom made!
Yes. That is what I am looking for, my boyfriend and I are very realistic about our wedding and when we marry I am going to be in a very pretty black dress that has been dressed up but I can dress it back down so I can reuse the dress for other occasions. I love the concept of a black wedding dress. I am personally covered in tattoos. 2 on my back 1 on my leg (that covers most of my leg) and I am getting a half sleeve before I get married and for me to wear white would look a bit gaudy its nice to see really really pretty black wedding dresses out now though. I might look into one of those instead!
That’s what I’ve been looking for. I don’t plan on wearing white for my wedding at all. I’ve always wanted a black wedding dress for the longest time and I’m so happy that more black dresses are popping up. ^__^
I have been wanting a black dress (I didn’t know about the whole Paris thing though) Anyway, My fiance says says no unless there is some white in it.. So I was looking through dresses and found a few. although they arent actual wedding dresses the one I saw was awesome.
I love the color black, My wedding is going to consist of two colors black and red. Simple as that. Although, it’s very hard to find a black wedding dress here in America =__= I’m not to trusting on ordering outside of where I live, a whole mess of things can go wrong so I think I may have to buy a white one and have it dyed black… it would be too expensive to have one made for me =__= I’m on a budget ya know. Thanks for this…gives me a bit of hope though.
I love the idea, I’m wearing a black dress or my wedding also! I have never liked anything white, and black is my color for everything, so black dress it is! I’m excited!
I wore a black wedding dress for my labor day wedding. Many people tried to talk me out of it. I found a local seamstress to replicate a dress I liked in black and it was very inexpensive and turned out to be a great dress. I am very happy I did it, it was our day and we did everything we wanted. No regrets!!
I wore black at my wedding just one week ago.
I chose it not because of any ‘trend’, but because that’s how I would feel more comfortable.

Jess, My accent color was red! everything came out SO great!
I didn’t have bridesmaids, but my maid of honor wore a red silk dress, and the flowers were red, orange and yellow spray roses.
As for budget, mine was a Calvin Klien cocktail dress that I found on a close-out rack at Macy’s for $60.00
I couldn’t have been happier if I’d spent $6000 :)

I would were a black wedding dress. I think white is to blah. i want an all black wedding dress somthing that pops and is out of the ordanary. I dont really like things in fashin but i like in the USA and black is not a usual color for a wedding. I was told that wearing black to a wedding was bad luck but i think black a beautiful color.

I am a man, and I am really dreaming of my bride wearing a black wedding dress, but every time I talk about this people laugh at me!!
I am planning on wearing a black wedding dress, well its actually black and red which are our wedding colors, I have always worn a lot of black, I love the way I look in it and its my “comfort” color, I am naturally very pale and light blonde so white would just wash me out, I have planned on wearing a black dress for years.
I am planning on wearing a black wedding dress for the same as most people above I am very pale and white washes me out. Eventhough the “black wedding dress” is up and coming in fashion it has been really hard to find that perfect dress. I have found a couple really good websites though on they are all from the UK.
We were just at a wedding where the bride wore a black dress, and people were so stunned by it that I almost think it took away from the ceremony.
No one was looking at how beautiful she was coming down the aisle.

im currently looking for a black wedding dress, even as a girl i have wanted nothing else. i never thought about getting wed in white, but then nothing about my wedding plans are boring and white. i feel that it would be wrong to wear white esp, as i have a child and this is my first wedding…. not the purest way to be!!
I’ve considered a black dress for a destination wedding we’re going to have on a black sand beach. I think if the scene is right it can be beautiful!
i am currently looking at a black wedding dress by Cymbeline Paris. The wedding however, will be a surprise wedding! Formal invites to a balck and white party. Should be fun! Totally loving the idea of not being your “typical” bride!
I just bought a long black evening gown and bolero jacket for a fall evening wedding. This is my second wedding and I’m in my early 50’s. This is for an elopement wedding. I sure hope that the outfit is suitable. I’m someone who doesn’t look good in white or ivory. Every other colour I tried I just didn’t seem to work. I plan to have white calla lilies and pink roses.

I have been thinking about wearing a black or a platinum wedding dress. My DBF loves wearing white tuxes and we cant both be wearing white! lol
We also have an 8 month old son so obviously we’re not “pure” why go with such a boring color when the whole reason white is the wedding color is the purity aspect that we so obviously don’t have being teen parents and all… lol

A black wedding dress suggests sophistication, elegance and independence. I will certainly be wearing a black wedding dress on my wedding day. I will love it, my fiance will love it, my brother and sister won’t be surprised, my in-laws will expect it, and my grandmothers might even have a laugh at it. All in all, a very positive outcome for the most important people involved.
Black is the most flattering colour and will go with any flower/theme/setting you desire. I’ve chosen black and red but there are so many other options to go with. Goodluck!

I am wearing a black dress for my wedding. I found it extremely frustrating trying to find a dress at first and thought I would have to resort to a custom gown which I didn’t want to do as you never really know what will suit you until you try it on. When I was searching I found the website http://www.foreverbridals.com had a large range of wedding gowns available in many colours including black. Then I just searched for local bridal shops in Ireland that supplied this brand and I found just what I wanted. Going back to get measured next week . :-)
I got married in 1995 and wanted a black wedding dress, my mother wouldnt let me. I’m now divorced, and if I got married again I would most certainly wear black. I think it’s striking.

Actually, I am wearing a black wedding dress. It’s an old tradition in Spain for brides to wear black silk dresses with black lace veils.

I most definately would wear a black wedding dress. I never wear white in my day to day life, so I see no reason to wear white on my wedding day. I’ve planned on having a black gown for many years now, however, I am also considering gold, a la Danielle De Barbarac (Drew Barrymore, Ever After).
i had been thinking of a black dress for quite a while, and today while taking an arm full of white dresses into the change room, i walked past a black dress that had only just arrived in the shop an hour earlier. i had to try it and it was perfect, once you put on the jewelry and the vail, i dont think it looks out of place, im so excited about it!!

I wore a black wedding dress for my wedding in August, and it was fab! (even if I do say so myself)… I couldn’t find one anywhere in the shops, but was fortunate enough to locate a wedding dressmaker at a wedding fayre. We sat down together, went over ideas and then she designed it for me. I knew from the start that I would never look good in anything other than a dark colour as I have very pale skin and dark hair, so I wanted to look striking. I wanted black originally, but was a bit afraid of the reaction – in the end, it was my mum who said go for it, and although I did get a few funny comments about it prior to the wedding (the number of goth comments in particular were quite irritating), on the day itself everyone said it looked stunning. The bridesmaids were in silver, and the flowers were white. I say go for it if you want it!
me and my boyfriend are planning our wedding, and we both think a black and red wedding dress would be the best thing for me to wear. i think a dress should reflect a girls personal style, just because it’s your wedding doesnt mean you should blend in with all the other brides.

I absolutely, positively WOULD wear a black wedding dress! I staunch white dress is very unflattering with my complexion and that of many other women. However, black looks good on everyone and can enhance a woman’s looks. I’m not a Skinny Minnie myself, and white dresses seem to emphasize my flaws. Black, however, is smooth, alluring, and extremely captivating!
Black dresses are FABULOUS! And I plan on wearing one just like the one in the pic, with the black veil and all. It will also be a play on my heritage, since a lot of women in my culture are expected to grow old and wear all black, so to see a young woman starting out her life with a man in black and looking gorgeous will be a beautiful thing to me.
black is the ultimate classic…I’ve been planning on wearing a black wedding dress since my early age. I’m not gothic or anything…I just love that color.
