Food Network: Duff Cakes Wedding Week
By shaping cakes with drill saws and blow torches and staffing his bakery with fellow rock musicians, Duff Goldman is not your typical baker. Yet he’s one of the most sought after cake makers in the country. Duff is the owner of Charm City Cakes.
This week on Dufff Cakes it was wedding week. The first cake started off with one of Duff’s favorite sports…Hockey. The cake was a replica of the hockey rink complete with the bride and groom skating, and a real Zamboni machine with an LED light.
Their second cake was a four-tier cake featuring the Baltimore Skyline. The couple are both realtors who were born and raised in Baltimore. The couple met in junior high and went to the jr. prom together. It was a four tier cake with over 110 buildings in the skyline.
To round out our Wedding Week, the last cake they called Monster Cake was a very traditional floral tiered cake. This cake was a white and ivory base with lots of floral imprints. I guess they called it monster cake because of it’s height.
I guess at Charm City Cakes this is all in a week’s work. Obviously, there are many brides out there skipping the traditional wedding cake and going with something fun, crazy and unique to their personalities. What type of wedding cake are you doing? Let’s here from you.
